A message from the local Labour Party Chair, Rory Shannon
Following on from the closure of our towns Art Centre, the ARTRIX, I decided that a good way to gage public support for Bromsgrove District Council taking the ARTRIX back in house would be a petition. A few weeks ago I started an online petition, using Change.org website. I had no idea how popular the idea would be and in under 24 hours, over 1000 people have signed and put their names in support of the Council taking over our Arts Centre.
We are now nearly at 4000 signatures, I suspect we can get close to 5000 signatures within a few weeks, but I need your support.
Please can you click here to sign my petition, but then also share by email or/and on social media.
The ARTRIX is an important part of our town’s cultural infrastructure, it must be properly managed and financed, with the UK’s economy about to take a massive hit, our Arts Centre must re-open and have the backing from the local council it needs to survive and grow.
Please can I also encourage you to write to your local councillor, our MP and our local newspapers, we must should show Bromsgrove Council that Bromsgrove residents want our Arts Centre open ASAP, and with a bright and secure future, council run, so we don’t have a repeat of the current situation.
I was the Labour Party’s candidate for Bromsgrove, for the Parliamentary election held in December. Below you will find a short video I made with regards to the ARTRIX and the Labour Party’s plans for the UK’s Arts sector. You can view the Party’s Arts Manifesto by clicking here.
