Statement from Cllr Peter McDonald

“I was shocked to receive complaints from residents who were concerned at horses charging up what is known as the Easy Access Trail: which was developed some years ago to make it easier for the elderly, mothers and toddlers and the less able to walk up to Waseley Hills Centre from New Inns Lane.

To be faced with an oncoming horse at some canter can be frightening and raises concerns regarding the safety of those using the Easy Access Trail.

People of all ages and ability having a stroll across the Waseley Hills do not expect to be faced with oncoming horses at speed, or should they be. Horses need to be banned from this pathway before there is a serious accident or fatality.

I have asked for signs banning horses to be installed to ensure residents can use the Easy Access Trail without fear of being confronted by horses being ridden at speed.”
