Cllr Peter McDonald says:

“I find it hard to accept that unlike other local authorities Worcestershire County Council is refusing all requests for banners or paintings on the road ‘Thanking the NHS’.

This would reiterate and show our support for the estimated 1.3 million Britons who work for the NHS. Thanking all the incredible nurses, doctors, NHS support staff & carers who are working flat out to fight corona virus.

Its bureaucracy gone mad: the Council should be focusing on what matters and that is our NHS and all key workers. At the end of the day there cannot be any excuses to refuse such requests only incompetence.

In these unprecedented times the County Council needs to be more flexible and adaptable reflecting the feelings of its local residents. Hopefully the Council will change its mind and thank the NHS the same way other highway authorities have.”
