Cllr Peter McDonald says:

“Saturday night Brook Road Park was vandalised, with litter bins throughout the park and the Bike Repair Stand all damaged. All the bins had been turned over and rubbish emptied. I must applaud the community spirited resident of Brook Road who cleared up the mess first thing in the morning.

Brook Road Park is a well-used and looked after by the Council and community spirited people. What happened Saturday was action involving deliberate destruction of and damage to public, an act of mindless vandalism.

The maximum penalty for vandalism that costs less than £5,000 to repair is three months imprisonment or a fine of £2,500. If damage is more than £5,000, the maximum punishment is six months imprisonment or a fine of £5,000. Hopefully they will be identified and the appropriate action taken.”
