Due to the Corona Virus Pandemic, all local, Mayoral and Police & Crime Commission elections due to be held on the 6th May have been delayed for a year, they are now expected to be held at the same time as the elections previously scheduled for 2021, which in Bromsgrove will for Worcestershire County Council.

A Message from Cllr Kuldip Sahota, Labour Candidate for West Mercia Polcie & Crime Commissioner

Under this Conservative Government West Mercia Police has lost over £91 million, this means less Police officers on our streets and crime increasing.

As the former Chair of the Telford & Wrekin Police Board, I understand how to win the best deal for our Police.

Under the Tory Police & Crime Commissioner, the level of knife crime, robberies and violent crime has increased. Instead of a costly reorganisation of our Police under this Tory Commissioner, I would prioritise getting the resources our Police force desperately needs.

Strong community policing matters to me and every resident of West Mercia that is why in my first term I would:

  1. Focus front line policing on tackling County Lines & anti-social behaviour.
  2. Recruit and retrain specialised staff to keep Police on the streets not behind the desk.
  3. Implement a true living wage and trade union practices for staff.
  4. On day one I would scrap the costly takeover of the Fire & Police forces in West Mercia.
  5. Unlike the Tory Commissioner, I would work closely with all partners, and neighbouring police forces to get the best from West Mercia Police.

As your Labour Police & Crime Commissioner, we could achieve so much more.

Kuldip’s Key Priorities

  • Scrap the takeover of the Fire Authority on day one.
  • Mend fences with neighbouring police forces and work closely with other PCCs.
  • Hold the Government to account and ensure it delivers the promises to increase Police numbers and funding in West Mercia.
  • I will focus on community policing for both our towns and rural parishes. Increase the local community officers.
  • I will fight tooth and nail to scrap austerity in our Police. Together we must put Police back on the beat and win the funding West Mercia deserves to protect our communities.
  • Focus frontline policing on tackling County Lines & anti-social behaviour.
  • Recruit and retrain specialised staff to keep Police on the streets not behind the desk.
  • Implement a true living wage and trade union practices for staff.
  • Ensure proper funding for mental health group/organisations which works closely  with police.
  • County wide action to stop young people being exploited by the drug dealers .
  • Will look at the various speeding issues raised by the local Parish councils.
